The AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language offers certification for Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS) as either Auditory-Verbal Therapists (LSLS Cert. AVT) or Auditory-Verbal Educators (LSLS Cert. AVEd). To be eligible for LSLS certifications, professionals seeking certification must demonstrate that they meet requirements for formal education, supervised practicum, professional experience and post-graduate study. Professionals seeking certification must work with a LSLS-certified mentor for three years before taking the LSLS Written Test for certification.

Listening and Spoken Language Specialists and professionals seeking certification must also earn approved LSLS Continuing Education credits. Employers, educators, continuing education providers and other organizations may apply to have their programs and events approved for LSLS CE credit.

Parents and employers can verify a professionals status to make sure that the teachers, speech-language pathologists and audiologists they work with have maintained certification as Listening and Spoken Language Specialists. The LSLS Registry provides up to date certification information and contact details for LSLS professionals.
