Convention Family Scholarship Program

The Convention Family Scholarship Program is now closed. The deadline was April 1. Applicants will receive an email on April 15 to let them know whether or not their family was selected to receive a Convention scholarship. Thank you for your interest in the AG Bell 2010 Biennial Convention Family Scholarship Program.

Overview

AG Bell recognizes that young families with a child who is deaf have extra financial pressures. We are pleased to offer the Family Scholarship Program for deserving families who have never attended an AG Bell Convention to access information and network with other families.

Families selected to receive a scholarship will receive:

  • Up to two full 2010 convention registrations
  • Up to two registrations for the 2010 Child & Teen program
  • One hotel room with two double beds for up to four nights – nights to include June 24, 25, 26 & 27, 2010
Family is responsible for all travel arrangements, long distance and local, as well as food and entertainment outside of what is provided through the convention registration.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this program, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • At least one child must have a documented bilateral hearing loss diagnosed prior to age seven.
  • The child’s hearing loss may be in the mild to profound range and must be bilateral.
Unilateral hearing loss does not qualify.
  • Spoken communication must be the child’s primary mode of communication.
  • Families must be first-time attendees for an AG Bell Convention.
  • Parents/guardians need to indicate financial need.
Membership in AG Bell is not required; however, preference is given to AG Bell members.
