Our Commitment to Privacy

AG Bell respects each visitor’s right to personal privacy. To that end, we collect and use information throughout our Web site only as disclosed in this Privacy Policy. This statement applies solely to information collected on AG Bell’s Web site.

Information Collected

Online Registration

While registration is not required on the AG Bell home Web site, users must login to access AG Bell’s online community. To login, select “Sign In” on the left-hand navigation bar and either enter you username and password, or register.

Certain features of AG Bell’s online community are only available to AG Bell members. To become an AG Bell member, select “Join Now” from the left-hand navigation bar.

Online Financial Transactions

AG Bell accepts financial donations, membership dues and publication sales through AG Bell online community. To donate, pay dues or make a purchase, a visitor must provide:

• First and last name
• Birth date
• Billing address
• Phone number
• Email address
• Purchase, donation, or member payment type
• Credit card type, number, and expiration date

When we transfer and receive financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure server, indicated by the “https” in the browser name. We have physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you.

How We Use Information

AG Bell offers list rentals to third-party vendors and shares information with companies that help manage our Web site and databases, as well as in various other capacities. If we have trouble processing an order or donation, we also use this personal information to contact you.

If you do not want your contact information shared with third-party vendors, please send an email to membership@agbell.org.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. AG Bell does set cookies in some capacities, i.e., if a user logs on as a member or if an e-commerce transaction takes place.

To remove cookies from your browser:

• Open Internet Explorer or your chosen browser
• Go to the Tools Tab
• Click on the Internet Options button
• Click on the Privacy tab
• Select the level of cookies you wish to receive on your browser: high, medium, low
• Cookies already placed on your browser will not be removed

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

When a child under the age of thirteen (13) attempts to register or buy items with a credit card, AG Bell requires that he or she has a parent or guardian present for parental permission.

AG Bell does not contact children under age thirteen (13) about special offers or for marketing purposes without a parent's permission.

AG Bell does not ask a child under age thirteen (13) for more personal information than is required for promotional activities or contests.

Children thirteen to eighteen (13-18) years of age must have parental permission to purchase items or participate in any activities on AG Bell's online community.

Links to the AG Bell Website

AG Bell is happy to allow third-party Web sites to link to content on our Web site. However, the linking should not suggest that AG Bell sponsors, endorses or supports the third party ideas/beliefs/services. AG Bell’s content, logo or URL should not be used for any commercial purposes. If you are interested in linking to AG Bell, please email the web editor at editor@agbell.org with your name, your organization name, contact information and the URL of your site.

By linking to any page on AG Bell’s Web site, you agree to follow the rules stated below:

• All links to AG Bell will be text-based – you do not have permission to use our logo unless you have written agreement from a management staff member.
• You may not create frames around specific AG Bell pages.
• You may not misrepresent your relationship with AG Bell or present false or misleading impressions about AG Bell.

Links on the AG Bell Website

AG Bell provides links to Web sites maintained by third parties over which AG Bell has no control. AG Bell does not support or endorse the content or products of these sites. AG Bell’s Online Community

The networking tools, such as discussion boards, weblogs and e-documents, of the AG Bell online community are places where the organization encourages discussion and debate on issues dealing with hearing loss. Users must be polite to fellow users and follow the AG Bell guidelines and rules.

You may not post any messages or materials anonymously or under a false name or a false email address.

Certain materials and language will not be tolerated. You may not post or upload any material or links to material that is obscene, indecent, pornographic, violent, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or that is in violation of the law. AG Bell monitors online activity and will delete or edit any material deemed inappropriate. AG Bell has the right to block users indefinitely from its online community based on inappropriate usage.

You may only post materials for which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically.

The discussions and chats can only be used for non-commercial purposes.

You may not post or transmit any software or other material which contains a virus or other harmful code or device. You may not use the discussions or chats to distribute "spam" or to gather email addresses for the purpose of sending "spam" to other users of the service.

Persons under the age of eighteen (18) MUST obtain parental permission before registering for AG Bell’s online community. Children under the age of thirteen (13) are not eligible to participate in the online community networking features.

AG Bell is not responsible for any material posted by participants in its online community. AG Bell cannot attest to the accuracy of statements that users post.

By using the AG Bell’s online community, you agree to abide by these rules.
